A few weeks ago Brandon and I were lucky enough to enjoy a stay at The Stratton House in downtown Collierville. It is perfect for a relaxing staycation trip, a bachelorette weekend, or even a date night.
This beautiful little bed and breakfast is located in the heart of the historic Collierville district, and is one of the town’s oldest and most historic homes. For over one hundred years The Stratton House was home to the Parr family. In 2015, Katie and Hampton Parr (Dr. Stratton’s great-great-great grandson) began a major renovation project with the intent to create a bed/breakfast and modern wedding/event venue, while at the same time preserving the home’s historic character. (As owner of ELP we photographed a first look here on a couples wedding day.)
Since our one year anniversary was approaching, we thought this would be a perfect time to get away and personally experience The Stratton House. The getaway provided needed time to be alone with each other and also enjoy the company of friends.
Arriving we were warmly greeted by innkeeper, Jean, and shown to our room overlooking the beautiful back yard. After settling in, we were offered complimentary wine to enjoy. To continue our happy hour, we took a leisurely walk to downtown Collierville discovering the neat new pub on the square called The Highlander. We had a cocktail and tried their delicious tomato & mozzarella brochette. Then we walked to 148 North where we met up with a few friends for dinner. I had the turkey burger mini sliders, and Brandon had the shrimp and grits. Everything was yummy!
The next morning, we woke up to coffee and the smell of breakfast in the kitchen prepared by Jean. We had the owner Katie Parr’s granola with yogurt and blueberries, zucchini bread, and freshly squeezed orange juice. Can I have some more, please??
We highly recommend that everyone enjoy a stay at The Stratton House and coming back is a 100% sure bet for us! We loved every minute of it and encourage everyone else to get away and enjoy this little home away from home.
